About Teh Shan Li

Shan Li believes in holding a non-judging, empathetic and reflective space for individuals to develop self-awareness and build their capabilities for self-compassion and self-acceptance.

Shan Li has experience working with mental health populations within a psychiatric hospital and in community settings. She has provided art therapy for clients across ages, such as at-risk students, neurodiverse children & adolescents, marginalised groups, older adults, and palliative care patients.

Shan Li is an entrepreneur and artist who enjoys creating using fabrics, threads and found objects. She is also passionate about spending time in nature and connecting to her body through yoga.

Shan Li’s Approach

Shan Li relates to her clients in a person-centred manner and her art therapy practice is psychodynamic-oriented and trauma-informed. During the therapeutic art encounter, Shan Li supports her clients in using creative art-making processes to express, make sense of and reconcile with feelings, emotions, and thoughts surrounding their experiences, facilitating their personal development and healing.

Shan Li’s Qualifications

Shan Li has a Master of Arts in Art Therapy (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology (Magna Cum Laude). She is certified in Mindfulness-Informed facilitation and has basic training in Solution-Focused Interviewing, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Play Therapy. She is committed to engaging in continuous professional development to better service her clients.
