Su Hwei is passionate about helping others, equipping herself with empathy and insight needed to recognise and manage the challenges faced by her clients. She is able to connect deeply with clients, especially those who are dealing with stress, career transitions, and work-life balance.
Su Hwei’s areas of expertise include working with adults and couples, with a main focus on Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Personality Disorders, Emotional Regulation, Work Issues, Relationship Issues, Job Loss, Low Self-Esteem concerns and Grief.
Su Hwei completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Honours) and a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology. She is currently advancing her professional training by actively pursuing further training in therapy courses such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to improve her practice and better serve her clients. She is a Level 1 Gottman Therapist and has also undergone training with PESI for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
With 14 years of experience working in the corporate sector, Su Hwei gained a plethora of life experience and insight into the challenges faced in high-pressure settings before her mid-career switch to the psychology field. Previously, she served in various settings which included universities, clinics, and community centres where she helped clients manage a wide range of psychological challenges. This experience from her corporate background has allowed her to work extensively with diverse populations which adds a valuable dimension to her therapeutic work when supporting clients who are dealing with similar professional challenges.
Su Hwei is committed to helping clients ranging from children to adults develop effective coping strategies and achieve their mental health goals through individual and group therapy. To achieve this, she integrates evidence-based therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and The Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. By using The Gottman Method, Su Hwei helps couples improve communication, handle their conflicts better, and rebuild trust. She teaches them practical tools to strengthen their connection and address challenges like conflict management. The goal is to help couples navigate struggles and build a deeper, healthier relationship.
