About

Jae-Mie is passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. She adopts a non-judgemental and personalised approach as she recognises that every individual has their own unique needs. Moreover, she believes that everyone should have a safe and supportive space to work through life’s challenges. Jae-Mie has been part of Psychology Blossom and the team’s journey in supporting clients from the very beginning. In addition to living in Singapore, Jae-Mie has lived in Shanghai and the United Kingdom, which makes her familiar with the challenges that may arise when living and studying abroad.

Specialisations

Her area of expertise include working with clients on a broad range of presentations such as Relationship and Interpersonal Issues, Childhood Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Stress, Burnout, Self-esteem concerns, Emotional Regulation, Perfectionism and Phobias. Jae-Mie is a key member of the assessment team, where she conducts ADHD, Autism, Personality assessments and IQ tests.

Qualifications and Experience

Jae-Mie completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with First-Class Honours at Cardiff Metropolitan University and her Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Psychology at the University of Bath. Jae-Mie has started working with mental health since 2021, and is a member of the Singapore Psychological Society. She advances her professional training by regularly keeping up with the latest research and updates on evidence-based interventions and attends weekly supervision in order to improve her practice and stay informed. Her areas of expertise is in conducting clinical assessments and diagnostics for the objectives of, but not limited to Adoption Psychological Evaluation, ADHD, Autism (ASD), IQ Testing, as well as Personality and Psychopathology.

Approach to Individual Therapy

Jae-Mie views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative journey where clients are encouraged to explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace while working toward personal goals. She works together with clients to identify and break negative patterns that may be rooted in early life experiences. By addressing these patterns, Jae-Mie supports clients in understanding how their long-standing beliefs influence their current thoughts and behaviours. This offers the opportunity for meaningful change and the development of helpful coping mechanisms.
Jae-Mie uses a variety of therapeutic interventions when working with clients, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy. She also adopts some techniques from the Gottman Method and uses Mindfulness. She works with young and older adults, supporting them through challenges such as anxiety (e.g., Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Phobias), depression, anger management challenges, stress and burnout, self-esteem concerns, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and relationship issues.
Jae-Mie provides therapy in English and provides a supportive, inclusive environment, affirming to clients of the LGBTQIA+ community.
