Therapy can benefit anyone who feels that the situation they are in is overwhelming, if their concerns are impacting their daily functioning, and if they are motivated to change old patterns and learn new, more adaptive strategies to overcome their challenges. Therapy can also be beneficial if you are seeking improvement in managing relationships, your emotions, and overall life satisfaction.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. They often focus on the biological and neurological aspects of mental illness and may incorporate therapy or rehabilitation for more serious conditions.

A psychologist typically holds a Master's or Doctorate degree in psychology. They are trained in psychological assessment and talk therapy but generally cannot prescribe medication. Their approach focuses on behavioural, cognitive, and emotional aspects of mental health.
A counsellor usually holds a Master's degree in counselling and focuses on helping individuals navigate life challenges, relationships, and emotional issues. Counselling tends to be more short-term and solution-focused compared to psychotherapy.
Psychology Blossom is not a psychiatric service and therefore does not carry nor prescribe medication, but we do have partnerships with psychiatry clinics should our clients require a referral

We understand the nervousness that may accompany the decision to start therapy. It is not an easy decision to make, and we would like to acknowledge your bravery in taking the first steps towards taking charge of your mental and emotional health.

  1. First, identify what you would like to gain from therapy.
  2. Next, choose a therapist who is equipped with the skills to help you, by checking whether they enlist the challenge that you would like to work on.
  3. Afterwards, you can proceed to book an appointment with your selected therapist here.

If in doubt, call us at +65 8800 0554 or email us at [email protected] and our friendly team will help you get matched to a therapist whose skills set covers your needs best.

The first session essentially allows you and the therapist to get to know each other. You will share your challenges while your therapist asks questions to gain a broad understanding of the context and the history of your challenges. This session usually takes 80 minutes, and sometimes it may take multiple sessions when there are multiple challenges and therapy goals. During the early stages of your therapeutic journey, you and your therapist will collaboratively establish the goals for therapy.

As collaboration and respect are our key brand values, your therapist will consider your feedback on the treatment plan as it goes along, and perhaps even readjust your therapy goals in the event that you see a need to grow in a different direction.

The first ~20 minutes is usually for updates from the client, homework discussion, and setting the agenda for the day (the client and the therapist do this collaboratively).

The next ~20 minutes is the actual work, which can consist of experiential exercises, psycho-education, problem solving, or other psychotherapy methods that have been shown effective through research, to address your targeted goal.

The last ~10 minutes is for processing and consolidating what was gained and experienced, and for wrapping up the session, including scheduling the next appointment.

Your therapist will share an estimation with you during the feedback session. Many find that they can address their main goal within 6 to 12 sessions, however there are particular presentations that require longer treatment.

Absolutely. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. In order to fully benefit from therapy, we encourage you to share openly and freely, and we would like to reassure you that therapy with us provides you with a safe confidential space. Only in extreme situations (such as a matter of life and death to oneself or others, or upon a court order), would confidential information have to be disclosed.

Psychology Blossom is proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming. We warmly welcome clients from all walks of life.

Only registered assistance dogs and guide dogs are permitted to the clinic.
