Joey holds a Master’s in Counselling from Monash University and is a registered member of the Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC). She combines over 16 years of leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience with hands-on counselling expertise. Her experience includes working with teens in Singapore secondary school and volunteers as a counsellor at a non-profit organisation.
As a school counsellor, Joey supported a diverse range of students navigating the challenges of school transitions, particularly those moving from Primary to Secondary school. She helped students manage anxiety related to academic pressures and social dynamics while fostering effective communication skills and resilience in those facing relationship and friendship issues. Additionally, she provided tailored support for students with special needs, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and accommodations to thrive. Her role was focused on creating a safe space for students to express their concerns and develop coping strategies for their unique challenges.
Joey adopts a client-centered approach that prioritises empathy, active listening, and collaboration. She provides a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and goals.
Her therapeutic modalities include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to enhance skills in mindfulness and emotional regulation. She also uses Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). She tailors her approach to meet your unique needs. Together, she works with clients to develop strategies to overcome challenges, foster resilience, and create a fulfilling path forward.
