Deborah believes it takes courage to reach out for professional support and seeks to hold a safe space for clients to feel inclusive and respectful. She adopts a down-to-earth, compassionate, and collaborative approach.
She specialises in adult mental health and works on a broad range of presentations including Stress/Anxiety, Depression, Life Transitions and Personal Growth, Work-Related Stress and Burnout, Grief and Loss, Relationship Stressors, Adjustment following Stressful Incident or Event(s), Phobias and Neuropsychological Assessments.
Deborah completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology (1st Class Honours) and a Master’s Degree in Psychology.
Deborah has worked in the private and government sectors for more than 10 years, which has allowed her to gain a wide range of expertise working in different settings including hospitals, counselling centres, social service agencies, government buildings, and youth residential facilities. She worked therapeutically with high-conflict families and had formal training in child custody evaluation before making a mid-career switch to the psychology field in 2011. Given her professional background, Deborah has a strong understanding of the effects that family disruptions and stress could have on both children and adults. In addition, she finds fulfilment in journeying alongside individuals in their healing and empowering them to create meaningful change.
Deborah provides various therapeutic interventions to adults including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 and 2), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness and Meditation.
