About Divina Daryanani
Divina Daryanani is a compassionate and insightful therapist, currently registered as a Level 2 counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association. She graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology from James Cook University and obtained a master’s degree in counselling from the University of Queensland. Divina has always been passionate about working with neurotypical and neurodiverse young people, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan. Throughout her career, she has gained the experience of working with a multitude of mental health presentations that include anxiety, depression, isolation, difficulties at school, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, stress, and bullying, to name a few.
Divina focuses on creating a safe, welcoming and trusting space for her clients to explore their needs and achieve their goals. As a counsellor, she begins as a blank canvas for them to draw, smear, paint, explore and pour all their thoughts and emotions onto. She will then walk her clients through their self-discovery pathway, making changes along the way, and helping them find clarity and balance in their lives.
Divina integrates solution-focused, person-centred, and mindfulness-based interventions. However, she remains open and curious to tailor therapy to meet the needs and goals of her clients. She firmly believes that being an unbiased best friend, incorporating elements of art and humour, and making it a tear and swear-friendly space is what makes her clients feel comfortable to unmask and truly feel safe in their counselling session with Divina.
Divina’s passion for counselling extends beyond her scope of work as it encompasses the larger community. She spends her spare time volunteering as a counsellor (to support people within the community) and as a team leader (to support her team of aspiring counsellors). If there is a quote that Divina lives by, it would be that “Your present circumstance does not determine where you go; they merely determine where you start”.
